They are so easy and so delicous, you'll wonder why you never made them before!
First begin by making a batch of your seasoning
Because I was making a large batch of croutons I started with 1/2 cup of olive oil 3 Tbsp Italian Seasoning, 3 Tbsp Onion Powder, 3 Tbsp Granulated Garlic and 1 Tbsp Salt mix well and brush on both sides of your bread
I found that the open side of the bread absorbed the olive oil mixture
While on the crusted side of the hotdog buns it sat on top.
Sliced the long way.....
.... the across to cube them
Place on cookie sheets, it's Okay for them to be in a double layer,
they are going to slow toast for 2-3 hours at 200-250
You know they are done when they are no longer springy and have the hard toasted feel croutons are loved for.
I dumped the trays into an extra large bowl to cool before storing them away in an air tight container.
Kids loved them so much them kepts coming into the kitchen to grab a handful! lol
Here they are on our dinner salad! Isn't it pretty? All for just pennies!
Note: The second batch I made I used Canola Oil, since I ran out of Olive Oil, and we couldn't taste the difference! This recipe just got cheaper!!!!
