Converting Tomato Sauce and Tomato Paste

Have you ever really thought about the difference between Tomato Juice, Tomato Sauce or even Tomato Paste?  Did you know we can quickly convert tomato paste into tomato sauce, tomato soup or tomato juice?  And tomato sauce, can be converted into tomato soup and tomato juice?

Most of us keep Tomato Sauce on the pantry shelf at all times.  In fact I keep it in my stock pile too.  But if I need Tomato Juice for chili , Tomato Paste for a special recipe or a hot bowl of Tomato Soup, it is just a matter of adding water and blending or straining.  Truly, it is that simple!

From Tomato Sauce

To separate your Tomato Paste from your Tomato Juice, strain through a cheese cloth in a strainer, small amounts (no more than an inch at a time) into a bowl.  Pushing the juice through the cheese cloth with the back of a spoon and squeezing the cheese cloth when mostly drained will help move things along.  What you end up with in the bowl will be your Tomato Juice while what you maintain in your cheese cloth will be your Tomato Paste

For Tomato Juice add equal parts water and sauce.  Pulse blend until you have a good mix and break down the larger pieces of tomato.

Want to make Tomato Soup?  Just add a bit less water than you would for Juice, and heat!  That's all there is too it!

From Tomato Paste
If by chance you have Tomato Paste and wish to convert it the other way, 1:4 ratio of Tomato Paste to Water, such as 1 can of Tomato Paste to 4 cans of water. Pulse blend in your blender until well blended or desired consistency is reached.

To dilute all the way down to Tomato Juice use a 1:10 ratio, add 1 can of Tomato Paste to 10 cans of water and pulse blend until desired consistency is reached.  You can add small amounts of water at a time to get a good thorough blend.

And again, to get that delicious hot Tomato Soup just add a bit less water; a 1:8 ratio would give you a nice thick and creamy soup.  Slowly add your water toward the end, to make sure you get your desired thickness.
