Easy Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

We LOVE this Eacy Homemade Hot Cocoa (hot chocolate) Mix in this house, especially since we moved to Alaska.  This could also be called Homemade Nesquik, since this is a just add milk recipe.   When the temperatures start dipping there is nothing more comforting that a hot cup of cocoa.  The only problem is the pre-made, store bought mixes have so many ingredients in them, many of which we can't pronounce.

Hot Cocoa mix really is simple if you can remember the rule of 2:1 ratio and a pinch of salt.  That really is it.  2/3 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of cocoa and 1 pinch of salt.  Mix thouroghly and store in your favorite air tight container.

Add by teaspoonful to warm milk.

Remember, since this is made with real cocoa, without all the fillers, a little goes a long way.  Don't surprised if you find yourself using half of your normal amount of store bought mix!  Love that dark cocoa taste?  Add just a bit more of your Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix.

  3. Thank you so much! I have been wanting a specific ratio rather than just dumping it in every time and guessing how much!
