The Atkins Experience

YES! I am at a whole new low weight! I've lost a total of 40 lbs!
As much as I LOVE the Atkins diet, I do admit that I still LOVE carbs too. I've recently had a few people ask how I continue to lose weight on Atkins while baking and cooking for my family. After all most everything I make is NOT atkins friendly. I think I spoke a little about this in my first post. There is something called the "Atkins Advantage". Once you get the carbs out of your system it seems like you lose some of your appitite. As long as you don't graze (which is habbit) it really becomes an easy way of eating.
How do I compare it to calorie counting?
Personally, I find Atkins much easier. No journaling, no measuring, just eating the atkins way.
Do I exercise?
Ummmm, no. But I should. Exercising is so good for you! I just haven't made it a priority. Yes, I know I really need to.
Do you have any questions for me? I'd love to answer them!
Blessings!!!

I suppose it has been a while since I've updated my progress, so here it goes. Well, we went camping and I wasn't exactly faithful with following my diet, and well... you guessed it, I gained back a few pounds. But I have been back on induction now for two days and just keep reminding myself it takes 3 days to get back into fat burning mode. All in all it isn't bad, I really don't mind induction as long as I start seeing the weight come off again. LOL One of the great side effects of being in fat burning mode, or the Atkins Advantage, is I'm not really hungery. I tend to eat more out of habbit that actual hunger. It makes me more mindful of recognizing my need for food vs. want.
I find it really interesting that as I get off the sugar and bad carbs, I feel sooo much better. I actually had to remove my rings on Tuesday morning because of the swelling in my hands from the water retention! Today, being the end of day 2, they fit again already!
Now some of you may be asking why I went off, especially since I have had such great results.... well, um, I really can't come up with a good excuse, other than I wanted to. I really wanted to have s'mores while camping and crackers and all the stuff I've missed. It was our last camping trip of the year after all. Was it worth it? No, not really, but today is a new day, and I'm back to being careful of what I eat. I need to lose 3 lbs to get back to my lowest weight. My goal is to be back down my Friday of next week. Crossing my fingers!
Have a great week everyone!

Although I think this is an overly flattering picture, I love it! lol It gives me so much encouragement to see how far I've come. Although I'm not thrilled about telling my actual weight, yes I am embarrassed, I will tell you I have dropped 57 pounds from my delivery weight from M3. That's ALOT! (Someday I may break that bond and actually share my weight with you, but until that day you will have to make due with the actual numbers.) Now of course some of that was baby, and all the extras that come with pregnancy, but it is coming off. Ideally I'd like to lose another 40 pounds, but we will see where I stop as I progress downward. :)
Do you struggle with your weight? As a mom, I have found myself putting my own health on the back burner "for the sake of my family". That is so not healthy on so many levels! Over the course of this week, I'd like to talk a little bit about each of the 4 levels in which our health is based. And please know I am not here to pass judgement on where you are in your health or weight. My heart's desire is to share my journey, and maybe inspire just one person who may need a little hope that they too can be healthy and can lose weight, even while feeding their family with super yummy and healthy foods.
Blessings,
Nicole

My diet of choice is the Atkins Diet. It has changed recently so if you haven't had a chance to check it out please do so! It is definately not the same old meat and fat diet we usually think of when we think of Atkins. So far I'm down 35 lbs, and all while cooking and baking for my family!Blessings,
Nicole
